Dr Lauren Martin

Dr Lauren Martin is a practising counselling psychologist and has worked in education for over 12 years. Lauren currently holds the role of Deputy Dean: Learning and Teaching at the South African College of Applied Psychology (SACAP), overseeing research, teaching and community engagement. Lauren has a deep-rooted passion for education and mental health, reflected in her PhD which focused on integrating mental health into learning and teaching practices to enhance resiliency in psychology students. Through various roles, whether Vice Chair for the SACAP Research Ethics Committee, an Academic Board member, BBBEE Committee member, she strives to contribute to driving positive change in society.

Dr Kamilla Rawatlal

Dr Kamilla Rawatlal

Kamilla V. Rawatlal, (PhD), is a registered Counselling Psychologist, Lecturer and Programme Manager of the Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at the University of Pretoria. She also serves as a Board Member on the South African Career Development Association (SACDA). Her research interests are around Counselling Psychology, professional development and training, careers and mental health and primary mental health care. She also serves as Guest Editor for the African Journal of Career Development, (AJCD) Special Collection based on “Advancing career intervention in developing countries: A call for agency in the 21st century”. Her most recent book publication is based on trainees practising in resource constrained contexts, titled Rawatlal, K.V. (2023). Deneo Nande Sekese

Deneo Nande Sekese

I started my career in Human Resources specifically training and development and organisational development. My passion for people and therapy led to a midlife career change into psychology. I completed my masters in counselling psychology at Rhodes university and internship at the student counselling centre at the Durban University of Technology. I have had the privilege of presenting my masters research at the 27th Annual South African Psychology Congress. My areas of interest are African Psychology, Wellbeing and Salutogenesis and Community psychology. I recently registered with the Board of Psychology HPCSA and am in the process of setting up a private practice.

Prof. Megan Campbell

Prof. Megan Campbell

Professor Megan Campbell is an Associate Professor and Counselling Psychologist currently based at the Rhodes University Psychology Department. She supervises a postgraduate research team of masters and Ph.D. students in the area of couple interventions to prevent violence in intimate partner relationships and am a C1 NRF-rated researcher. She coordinates the Professional Masters Programme in Counselling Psychology and holds a PG Dip in HE. She also serves as an academic board member for SACAP.

Dr. Phillipa Haine

Dr. Phillipa Haine

Dr Phillipa Haine is a registered Counselling Psychologist. Phillipa has successfully completed the degrees, BSc (Genetics, Psychology & Human Physiology) and Hons (Psychology) (Cum Laude) at Stellenbosch University, as well as the degrees MA (Counselling Psychology) and PhD (Psychology) at Rhodes University; she completed her internship at the Rhodes University Student Counselling Centre. Phillipa is a part-time lecturer at Rhodes University teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and is currently supervising research at a Masters level. She has published research in various peer-reviewed academic journals and has presented at various local conferences. Phillipa also manages a part time private practice.
