PsySSA Commemorates International Health Day

Now, more than ever, it is vital for health professionals and policy makers the world over to reflect on what it means to engage as fellow human beings on International Health Day. The pandemic that we are all confronting, which knows no borders, must give us serious pause to reassess health as a necessity for life for all people, everywhere, not just the privileged few who have better access to it in our circles, the country we happen to be a citizen of, the profession that we are part of. A more inclusive, global approach is required to successfully curb the pandemic and stave off future impacts on the health of all of humanity. The call to “Think globally, act locally” is one that we must take cognisance of, especially when the world as we know it is so rapidly, and indelibly changing. How we treat the worst off amongst us, underpins our own claim to being human.
