Anne Kramers-Olen

Anne Kramers-Olen obtained her Masters degree in Social Science (Clinical Psychology) from the then named University of Natal (Pietermaritzburg campus). She completed her internship at the Midlands Hospital Complex in Pietermaritzburg during 1998 and is currently employed at Fort Napier Hospital. She has worked in the public and private sector, and has published papers in the area of ethics, forensics, intellectual disability and psychosocial rehabilitation. She is an associate editor of the South African Journal of Psychology and honorary lecturer at the Department of Behavioural Medicine, University of KwaZulu-Natal.

Rivendri Govender

Rivendri Govender

Rivendri Govender is an Educational Psychologist in private practice at Japari Remedial School, with a Master of Social Sciences in Educational Psychology from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. She serves as a research supervisor to postgraduate psychology students at the IIE Varsity College and leads mental health advocacy initiatives through the KZN Mental Health Advocacy Group through her role as a Project Coordinator. Featured in national media for her work, Rivendri is passionate about autism support, inclusive education, and creating accessible, stigma-free mental health spaces across South Africa.

Duduzile Lorraine Nyathi

Duduzile Lorraine Nyathi

Duduzile Lorraine Nyathi is interested in student empowerment, mental health awareness, and inclusive leadership. She holds a BA Honours in Psychology (cum laude), a BA in Health Sciences and Social Services (cum laude) and a MA in Psychology (UNISA). An active PsySSA member since 2022, she served as an Additional Subcommittee Member in the RISE Student Division (2022–2024). She has also serves as a mentor to Honours Psychology students through the National Mentorship Programme, further reflecting her commitment to student development and empowerment. Her leadership experience includes leading impactful programmes with strong project management, communications, and MEAL skills to advance organizational goals. She has completed online training with the South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG), the International Labour Organization’s (ILO) Financial Education Programme, and various other capacity-building courses aimed at strengthening leadership and advocacy. Miss Nyathi is also a YALI RLC SA Civic Leadership alumna, a Peace Ambassador with the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP), and an active member of Amnesty International’s Youth Power Action Network. Additionally, a selected participant of the Online Youth Capacity Building Training organized by AU-CIEFFA and ImpactHER. As the elected Secretary/Treasurer of PsySSA’s SD, she is dedicated to encouraging psychology students to thrive and remain relevant through mentorship and access to resources for their development.

Quraisha Baig

Quraisha Baig

Quraisha Baig is a Clinical Psychologist based in Pietermaritzburg, and practising at Psych Care. She provides psychotherapy for adults and adolescents, with a focus on trauma, resilience, and transformation. Her clinical work integrates evidence-based approaches with BrainWorking Recursive Therapy (BWRT®), in which she is an accredited practitioner, and she has presented her work on BWRT at national and international psychology congresses.
Alongside individual and couples therapy, Quraisha offers psycho-legal assessments, reflecting her interest in the intersections of psychology, law, and public service. She also expresses an interest in non-verbal forms of communication as a means of therapeutic self expression, which includes art to foster healing, self-expression, and connection to our authentic ways of communication.
Quraisha has been featured in podcasts, community media, and public forums discussing mental wellness and the psychological impact of trauma, highlighting her commitment to making mental health support accessible and contextually relevant. Her practice ethos emphasises resilience, neuroplasticity, and inclusive care for diverse populations.
Maryam Gangat

Maryam Gangat

Maryam Gangat holds a BPsych Equivalent in Psychometry from the University of Stellenbosch and is a registered psychometrist with a strong commitment to promoting mental health awareness and accessibility.
She is the founder of Maryam Gangat Psychometrics, an independent practice providing psychoeducational, school readiness, and career guidance assessments. Her professional interests include trauma, neurodiversity, learning difficulties, and community mental health.
Maryam’s involvement with PsySSA’s Trauma and Violence Division stems from her experience volunteering as a lay counselor at the South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG), where she often supports callers who have experienced trauma as a result of domestic violence, abuse, or other adverse life events. This work has strengthened her passion for trauma-informed care and inspired her aspiration to become a psychologist, where she hopes to further contribute to accessible, empathetic, and evidence-based mental health support within South Africa.
