Jacques Pretorius is a clinical psychologist registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA). He has worked in various private and public sectors of mental health, including both private and government psychiatric settings. Currently, Jacques is a full-time lecturer in the Department of Clinical Psychology at SMU where he is involved in training undergraduate and postgraduate students who are pursuing degrees in clinical psychology, psychiatry, and medicine. His clinical and research interests include postmodern epistemology, medical psychology, and the philosophy & ethics of mental health and psychopathology. He has authored scientific publications and has attended and spoken at local and international congresses.
