75 Days to Go – Annual Psychology Congress

75 Days to Go – Annual Psychology Congress

75 days to Congress. Be part of the conversation.

In clinics, classrooms, hospitals, homes, courtrooms and communities, psychologists and mental health practitioners continue to carry the work.

Some of us are early in our journey. Others have spent decades holding stories, systems, and spaces. We work in private practice, public service, universities, NGOs, schools and beyond.

This year’s Congress is a moment to pause. To come together. To take stock of what psychology is being asked to do in South Africa… and what we still hope it can become.

Under the theme “Psychology in Society and Society in Psychology”, we meet in Durban to reflect, connect, and contribute to the future of mental healthcare.

If you are part of the work, this Congress is for you.

Final Congress Programme Now Available

The Psychological Society of South Africa (PsySSA) invites delegates to view the final programme for the 2025 Annual South African Psychology Congress, themed “Psychology in Society and Society in Psychology.”

The programme reflects the diversity and depth of presentations submitted in response to this year’s call, which highlighted psychology’s relevance in addressing social challenges and strengthening mental health in our communities.

We thank the Scientific Committee, the PsySSA Office team, and the Congress Project Team for their time and effort in shaping this final version.

The programme includes a wide range of presentations and activities, such as:

  • Plenaries and Invited Dialogues on African psychology, ethics, gender, trauma, mental health, and decolonial practice.
  • AI and Psychology Sessions, including a demonstration on using Microsoft 365 Copilot and GPT tools to generate psychological insights.
  • Indigenous Healing and Psychology Panels, exploring integration of traditional and clinical practices.
  • Symposia on bereavement, adolescent mental health, conversion practices, and community-based interventions (and more).
  • HPCSA Workshops covering complaints processes, development pathways, and ethical responsibilities.
  • Roundtables on navigating community service, teaching Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and expanding psychology’s role in diverse contexts, among others.

We encourage all delegates to explore the final programme and plan their sessions accordingly.
