The Psychological Society of South Africa (PsySSA) salutes our nurses. You are at the frontline of health care services on a 24-hour basis to keep our nation healthy. At this time more than ever, we are grateful for the care that you give and the sacrifices that you make to ensure that our communities are as safe and healthy as can be. With 2020 declared the Year of The Nurse and Midwife by the World Health Organisation, and as you also celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale, we join you in the call to all governments to make this a landmark year in health care and pave the way to realising universal health access for all.

As psychology professionals we take great pride in working alongside you in the quest for better health and a society where human suffering and distress are no longer the norm. We thank you for your efforts and wish you much strength as you continue your dedicated work and service to humanity.
