Prof. Theophilus Lazarus

Prof Theophilus Lazarus completed a PhD in Neuropsychology and a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Clinical and Forensic Neuropsychology in the USA. He has taught, supervised, conducted research and practised Neuropsychology for over 39 years, locally and internationally, promoting several masters and doctoral dissertations. Dr. Ann Watts

Dr. Ann Watts

Ann has for many years been actively involved in developing neuropsychology in South Africa. She was President of the International Neuropsychological Society in 2015, to date their only President from a developing country. She served as Secretary-General of the International Union of Psychological Science (IUPsyS) for a decade and is the Main Representative (Psychology) to the World Health Organization (WHO).  She served on the WHO International Advisory Group for the Revision of ICD-10 Mental and Behavioural Disorders and was a member of the WHO Rehabilitation Competency Framework Technical Work Group.  Ann is Treasurer of the Pan African Psychology Union, and Past President of the Psychological Society of South Africa (PsySSA) and the South African Clinical Neuropsychological Association.

Ann completed her Ph.D and a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in neuropsychology at the then University of Natal.  She is a Clinical Psychologist and Neuropsychologist based at Entabeni Hospital, Durban.  Ann was an expert in the field (neuropsychology) at the University of KwaZulu-Natal until 2019 and a visiting neuropsychology lecturer at the Universities of Zululand and the Free State.  She was Editor of the International Platform of the International Journal of Psychology and a Consulting Editor of the Journal of the International Neuropsychological Society for 10 years.

Barry Viljoen

Barry Viljoen

Barry is a clinical psychologist who has experience in working within both the private and state sectors in primary, secondary and tertiary settings. These have been in correctional and rehabilitative contexts. He has presented at several conference both internationally and locally on a variety of topics. His focus is primarily on working with children and adolescents, however, not exclusively to. His areas of special interest are behavioural problems, trauma, family and parenting challenges, substance use and abuse difficulties, chronic pain management, life stage adjustment difficulties, neuropsychology in rehabilitative and forensic contexts.

Dr. Karl Swain

Karl Swain is a registered Clinical Psychologist and Neuropsychologist. He is currently the acting Head of Discipline of the Department of Behavioural Medicine at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN), South Africa. Karl served two terms as the Chairperson for the South African Society for Clinical Psychology (SASCP), after a term as Secretary. Additionally, he has served for two terms as the Vice Chairperson for PsySSA’s Division of Neuropsychology and Forensic Psychology. Karl is currently the Chairperson of the Durban Practicing Psychologists Group (DPPG) and Chairperson of the KwaZulu-Natal Branch of PsySSA. His research and clinical interests include neuropsychology and traumatic stress.

Lindiwe Mabena

Lindiwe Mabena

Ms Lindiwe Mabena has qualifications degrees in: Bcur Nursing (MEDUNSA), BSc Honours in Psychology (MEDUNSA) and Maters in Clinical Psychology (UNISA). She brings a wealth of experience from government, non-governmental and private sectors, where she has also served on boards and subcommittees. Her professional journey includes expertise in mental health; psychiatry; psychometric assessment and psychosocial support. She has competencies in clinical, educational, forensic, neuropsychology and medicolegal evaluations. She also has experience in rehabilitation and clinical trial research. She has contributed to programmes supporting orphaned & vulnerable, including children in conflict with the law. She has authored articles on HIV management, restorative justice, and an article on psychosocial support. Additionally, her expertise covers disability management, organisational development, and human resource management. Through these varied roles, she has proven knowledge in policy development, understanding of regulations and legislations. She previously served as a member of the South African society for Clinical Psychology Division (SASCP) Subcommittee, holding the positions of Deputy Chairperson, General Secretary, and treasurer. Her participation in community has seen her playing a pivotal role in other boards outside psychology.
