Call for Applications: Editor, Peace and Conflict: Journal of Peace Psychology
The Society for the Study of Peace, Conflict, and Violence (APA Division 48: Peace Psychology) invites applications for the editorship of Peace and Conflict: Journal of Peace Psychology. The successful candidate will begin their term in January 2027.
Published by the American Psychological Association, Peace and Conflict is an international journal advancing scholarship on peace, conflict, and their intersections across interpersonal, community, regional, national, and international contexts. It publishes empirical work relevant to researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and educators in peace psychology and related disciplines.
A valuable opportunity for South African scholars
PsySSA encourages suitably qualified South African psychologists, academics, scholar-practitioners, and particularly PsySSA members to consider applying for this international editorial leadership opportunity.
The call has particular relevance to the South African and broader Global South psychology community. The Search Committee is interested in candidates who engage with Global South perspectives, critical methodologies, activist scholarship, decolonial approaches, epistemic justice, cultural competence, intersectionality, and methodological diversity.
Who are they looking for?
Candidates should have established scholarly and editorial experience, including writing and editing expertise and experience in journal or book editing, peer review, or managing editorial processes. Applicants should also demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively and constructively with associate editors, editorial board members, authors, and reviewers while maintaining the integrity of the peer-review process.
The incoming editor will benefit from a transition period with the current editor, support from associate editors, editorial assistance, and a modest stipend.

Applications should include:
- A current full CV, including a list of publications.
- A letter outlining the applicant’s guiding philosophy and vision for the journal, including its future in digital publishing; approach to ensuring diverse and critical scholarship; experience engaging practitioners, peacebuilders, and activist scholars; experience with impacted communities; and relevant editorial experience.
