Information for psychology practitioners

The current corona virus that is causing COVID-19 is new to the world.

Researchers did not have a chance to study this specific virus, the impact of the virus on people, the infection processes and the impact of infection before the outbreak started. They are learning from the pandemic as it unfolds. That means that health professionals around the globe must stay up to date in terms of: research findings as they become available, and what the important but unanswered questions at this stage are. Here are some important information sources for data about the pandemic around the globe and in South Africa, what the disaster response status in South Africa is, and credible information, advice and materials to support you when helping members of the public, frontline healthcare workers, and COVID-19 patients.

The purpose of the conversation centred on the need to bring back a relational ethic of ubuntu and care into our schools and classrooms.
