With a focus on learning and development across the lifespan and across contexts, SEPSA connects Educational Psychologists and works to strengthen their contribution to individuals, families, communities and education in South Africa.

Who we are

SEPSA is the PsySSA Division representing the professional and research interests of Educational Psychology.

The Division brings Educational Psychologists together while promoting collaboration with other psychologists, education professionals, public and private institutions and communities. Its work is informed by a commitment to advancing Educational Psychology and serving the needs and interests of people across South Africa.

SEPSA advances Educational Psychology through:

Professional Practice: Promoting the theory and practice of Educational Psychology and the professional interests of Educational Psychologists.
Research: Coordinating and promoting research activity within Educational Psychology.
Learning and Development: Advancing psychological understanding and practice concerned with learning and development across the lifespan and in different contexts.
Professional Collaboration: Strengthening relationships between Educational Psychologists, other psychologists, education professionals and related support services.
Policy Engagement: Contributing to matters of policy relevant to Educational Psychology and education in South Africa.
Professional Development: Supporting opportunities for learning, information sharing and Educational Psychology-focused CPD.
Advocacy: Representing matters affecting Educational Psychologists and the profession.
Knowledge Sharing: Collecting and disseminating information relevant to Educational Psychology.
