LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Thank you to Dr Cooper for his valuable contribution to the formulation of ethical practice in schools in South Africa. I would be interested in receiving the written evaluation of the workshop.

The feedback that I have received from other schools has been extremely positive.

I do believe that communication between psychologists working

in schools and PsySSA would be of great value. Thank you for your dedication to ethical practice and for the valuable time that you spent with us at St. Stithians College.

Sue Mackenzie

I was so pleased to have Dr Cooper at the PsySSA CPD meeting in Linden on 2 October. There are so many rumours floating around and no one ever seems to know definitely what’s going on. So to have the ‘horse’s mouth’ with us to allay fears and to deal with queries was great.

I know now that the 50 points still applies until 31 March next year, that what is charged for some of the ‘development’ is exorbitant, that no one will be summarily ‘deregistered’ without warning (after all why should you want to get rid of psychologists?) and that community work for psychologists will be compulsory.

I also agree that the idea behind CPD is development and that rushing off and doing unnecessary courses is not encouraged.

Barbara Hall

I would like to use the opportunity to thank Dr Cooper, Dr Olivier, Judge Bertelsmann, Dr Watts, Purity, Nosipho, Fatima and everybody else for a truly memorable learning experience. I greatly enjoyed the ethics presentations on 17 August and I really learnt a lot. Many thanks, colleagues!

Thank you for keeping me informed and for the very Good News! This is a far more sensible approach and also, makes one realise that after all, PsySSA has the professional members' interests at heart.
