DURBAN CPD MEETING
Two monthly free CPD meetings per month have been scheduled for Durban at Entabeni Hospital (Conference Room) or Nelson Mandela School of Medicine (Steve Biko Lecture Theatre) on the second Monday at 7 for 7.30am and fourth Thursday at 5 for 5.30pm. An exciting range of topics and speakers, covering all registration categories, will be featured, according to KwaZulu/Natal Branch officials Prof Shirley Tollman and Ms Brenda Bosch.
Make a note of these dates (usually at Entabeni): Mon 12 Aug, Thurs 29 Aug (Mandela), Mon 9 Sept, Thurs 26 Sept (Mandela), Mon 14 Oct, Thurs 31 Oct, Mon 11 Nov, Thurs 28 Nov, and Mon 9 Dec.
Plans are underway to collaborate with the KwaZulu/Natal Branch of SIOPSA, so a wide range of topics and many opportunities for collecting CPD points are offered. One meeting a month will feature a speaker and the other will be devoted to journal/case studies. For the latter meeting all are expected to contribute and at some stage present a current journal article, or case that they are dealing with, or an aspect of psychology that is of particular interest to them. Prof Shirley Tollman says, “The branch should be catering for a broad range of interests, while enabling members to keep abreast with changes that affect them, share ideas, network, and unite to build a strong and respected psychological presence in South Africa”.
